The Silver Lining
We humans, more often than not, are accustomed to concentrate on the negative rather than the bright side of life. We tend to worry because of the darkness of the night and forget how bright the day was shortly before dusk. We fail to prospect for another brighter day shortly after dawn. We remain glued to the handful of necessities we are lacking and we forget to count the multitude of goodies bestowed on us. We are naturally likely to be selfish and ungrateful than appreciative and contented.
However, the bare truth is that despite a few odds, we are the most successful of the earth’s creations. Much has been given to us freely and we have worked hard to earn extras. We only need to reset our mindsets a little to learn to look at the good things that come with every turbulent time. At the moment, a heavy, dark cloud hangs in the global community since the outbreak of Covid-19. And once again we are worried more about our children’s education, our income, vacations, regular social activities, political ambitions, and stalled projects.
But, behold, lift your eyes and see in this cloud too, there is a silver lining. Our hearts go to those who have been directly affected by the pandemic through infection or loss of dear ones. May they find the strength to endure the challenge. For those who have been affected indirectly, let’s not only look at the distractions but also the good things that have come with the wave of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, we can be home in time and bond with our loved ones. Automobile activities in the land, air, and sea have reduced significantly and so are their resulting pollution. Industrial affluence and fumes have spared our water bodies and air space a hazardous threat. For once nature is reclaiming its command and humanity has been reminded of their responsibility. Political tensions across the world have eased. Slowly, sobriety is crawling back home. The serenity and tranquility that has come with this global pandemic should be a treasure to reckon.
